28.4m³ Q345R Trichlorosilane Semi-Trailer Tanker

The Trichlorosilane Semi-Trailer Tanker is a hazardous chemical tank truck that is exclusively used for transporting trichlorosilane (SiHCl₃). The tank body of this trichlorosilane semi-trailer tanker is produced and built according to the requirement of pressure vessel safe manufacture and performance, so it can be used safely in the industrial logistics in extreme conditions. It is specially designed for medium to long-distance transportation of raw materials in key industries such as modern electronics, new energy (such as photovoltaics and solar grade polysilicon) and the chemical industry.

This SiHCl3 tank trailer's capacity is 28.4 m³, with a rated payload of 29,640 kg, giving a total liquid mass of approximately 38,100 kg for a full load. It is therefore not possible to fill the tank to more than about 22,120 liters, which is a normal safety margin for volatile thermally expanding chemicals, due to the rated payload. Due to the high density of trichlorosilane, 100% of the tank's payload mass is contained in a 3.2 m shorter tank than a similar chloromethane tank, with a corresponding gain in the tank's manoeuvrability and deadweight.

This polysilicon raw material transport trailer needs to accommodate the challenging chemical hazard profile of trichlorosilane: it is pyrophoric, flammable, and reacts violently with water, generating toxic hydrogen chloride gas and heat. The tank is fabricated from Q345R pressure vessel steel that is strong enough to withstand the moderate vapour pressure of the chemical. Fabrication of this type of cargo would involve a high corrosion allowance, stringent weld integrity which is required to be complete with full X-ray inspection, and the tank would be internally dried and inerted before loading (usually with nitrogen) to avoid moisture-induced corrosion and pressure build-up.
