The 36.57 m³ Chloromethane (Methyl Chloride) Semi-Trailer Tanker is a dedicated vehicle to transport the hazardous material CH₃Cl. The tank body of this chloromethane semi-trailer tanker is built to the exacting standards of pressure vessel construction for exceptional safety in challenging chemical logistics applications. It is well suited for the long-distance transportation of raw materials in the fields of organosilicon, pesticide and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The tank volume of this tank trailer is 36.57 m³ (36,570 liters) and the payload is 29,621 kg. The density of liquid chloromethane is about 0.92–0.99 kg/L and gross weight considerations limit the practical filling of the tank to about 80–82% of the rated capacity, or 33,600–36,200 kg for a fully loaded tank. This inherent safety margin is based on international safety rule practice with liquefied gases, so that it will not be subject to hydraulic bursting in the event of ambient temperature increases. The vehicle is not structurally limited, but is volume-limited by regulation.
The tank is made of Q345R pressure vessel steel (Chinese GB/T 713 standard), which is a special material for boiler and pressure vessel and has high tensile strength of 510-640MPa and high low-temperature impact toughness. The resistance to the chloromethane's internal vapour pressure (usually 5-8 bar at room temperature) and the protection against brittle fracture hazards related to the refrigerant properties of methyl chloride at high unloading speed is covered by this choice of material for the transport semi-trailer.
